Who is responsible

Letters from the studio (newsletter)
If you sign up, your email address is used to send occasional notes on new work and upcoming classes. You then receive an email asking you to confirm your address; you are only added once you confirm. The date and time of sign-up and confirmation are recorded as proof of your consent.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time through the unsubscribe link in every email or by emailing us. Your address is kept until you unsubscribe [and deleted within … of unsubscribing].
Your address is stored on the server of our web host (see Hosting below), and the confirmation email is sent from our own mailbox. Sign-ups that are not confirmed are deleted after 7 days. [If a mailing-list service is used later, name it here before the list is moved.]
Protection against automated sign-ups
To keep automated programs (bots) from misusing the sign-up form, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. It is loaded only once you start using the form. Turnstile processes technical information such as your IP address and browser details to tell people and bots apart, and may store information in your browser that is strictly necessary for this check. Cloudflare acts as our processor for the check and, according to its Turnstile privacy addendum, also uses this information to improve its bot detection.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure sign-up process (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). The sign-up check also counts attempts per connection, using a pseudonymised form of your IP address that is deleted after two days.
Email enquiries and bookings
When you email us, your message and contact details are used to reply and, if you book a class, to organise your place. Legal basis: steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) UK GDPR). Emails are kept [for as long as needed for the enquiry or booking, and then for … years for accounting].
Hosting
This website is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd (Cyprus). When you visit, the server automatically records technical data such as your IP address, the page requested and the time, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). [Log retention period]
Transfers outside the UK
Some providers named above may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, it is based on UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Addendum. [Check each provider’s current terms]
