This course introduces participants to the materials, techniques and aesthetic principles of Persian miniature painting. It explores the historical background of miniature painting, examining typical compositions and key characteristics. Through guided practice, participants will learn the various stages of this medieval manuscript tradition.

The course focuses on gardens and natural elements, exploring traditional approaches to depicting flowers, trees, foliage, water and other features of the natural world. This is a beginners’ class, and no previous painting experience is required.
